The photos on this page show work in progress-top left is a cuckoo clock with music box that was in need of a new movement due to age and wear. Upon completion each repair has to complete about a week of test running before going home.
     Next is an Atmos clock which was partially disassembled to test the bellows. Bellows problems are the most common fault.
     The photo with the 3 round gummy looking things are from an older German mantle clock. The oil in the mainsprings dryes and thickens with time, causing the coils of the spring to stick together. The oil in the pivot holes mixes with dust in the air and makes a fine abrasive which wears away the brass.
     The watch is an old Hamilton manual wind which requires routine servicing about every 3-4 years.
     Bottom left is a Movado quartz battery watch undergoing testing. It is in a test stand and connected to a microampere meter to monitor the current. Quart watches do NOT require routine cleaning, There is very little oil required, biggest problem is with battery age and leakage corroding the tiny circuite boards.
